The vaccination campaign against flu and COVID-19 begins in the Marina Alta

16 October 2023 - 14: 16

El Department of Health of Dénia begins the vaccination campaign aimed at combating the threats of the Flu and COVID-19 in the Marina Alta. The main objective of this initiative is to protect the health of the population.

The campaign is aimed at three fundamental groups: health professionals, social health professionals and people at risk, such as patients with chronic diseases, pregnant women and older adults.

A notable novelty in this edition of the campaign is the extension of the eligibility age, reducing the age limit from 65 to 60 years. In addition, vaccination coverage has expanded children between six months and five years old, in addition to including the smoking population.

In this way, health authorities recognize the risks of smoking against respiratory pathologies. The inclusion of minors in this campaign is due to a double reason: the protection of this group of people and the prevention of infections in their immediate environment, which includes the school environment and the home.

The administration of the doses of both vaccines in the Dénia Health Department will take place by appointment at health centers of the Marina Alta. This approach will allow for efficient distribution of available doses and ensure that the population receives their vaccination in a staggered manner.

Patients will be able make your appointments through the Virtual Counter, accessible through the website or the MS Virtual Counter application, available both in the Play Store for Android devices and in the App Store for Apple devices. There is also the option of contacting your corresponding health center by telephone.

Vaccination is established as an essential tool to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The combination of flu and COVID-19 vaccines helps reduce pressure on health systems and protect the most vulnerable population. This approach simplifies the vaccination process, minimizes the risk of co-infection and its possible complications, and improves the compliance rate, which is essential to prevent outbreaks in the community.

The Dénia Health Department calls on all risk groups to actively participate in this vaccination campaign, proven to be the most effective prevention measure. In view of the upcoming flu season and the persistence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the relevance of this campaign is even greater in protecting the health of the community.
