They all say "yes" to the university campus of Dénia (and Puig emphasizes that the decision is up to the University)

05 June 2019 - 16: 16

Entrepreneurs, the university, the City Council and the Generalitat have confirmed this Wednesday their support for Dénia to have a university campus of the Universitat d'Alacant. Something essential for this ambitious long-term project to go ahead and put the capital of the Marina Alta on a par with other cities such as Alcoy or Gandía, which have had their own university campuses for years.

The unanimous support to the project has been announced during the Meeting Venue-Social Council of the University of Alicante that has been held in the Maritime station Denia.

The first to show his support for the project has been the president of Baleària, and also president of the Social Council, Adolfo Utor, which has shown its commitment to support the creation of the campus "doing everything possible, at all levels ... also the economic one". Utor, who has acted as host of the act, wanted to extract the commitment of the president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, present in the Council.

Before this thrown glove, Puig has remembered that it is responsibility of the University of Alicante "mark the territorial strategy" who wants to follow, and who should lead the way so that "the university campus of Dénia is a reality". "The Generalitat agrees with the decision of the University of Alicante to decentralize", said Puig. In this way, the President has "left the ball" on the roof of the University, assuring that from the Generalitat they will support the project if it has the support of the City Council and the businessmen.

The creation of a university campus in Dénia is the great bet of the mayor, the socialist Vicent Grimalt, for this new legislature, so from the City Council, how could it be otherwise, they have also supported this project. Grimalt has called on stakeholders to "board this virtual train from an imaginary station waiting for the university campus."

The "Yes" of the businessmen and the City Council has added the one that is perhaps the most important: that of the University of Alicante. It has been its rector, Manuel Palomar, who has shown his commitment to make the Dénia campus a reality. Palomar has labeled this project a "strategic opportunity", becoming a campus "necessary and essential for which the involvement of all sectors is fundamental".

In the face of the creation of the campus, the University of Alicante will mark the singularities of the region so that Dénia has a training offer that is not elsewhere.

This has been the first Headquarters Meeting of the Social Council of the University of Alicante, a meeting that is promoted by the Governing Council of the university and which aims to strengthen the dialogue between the university and social agents.

During the day they have put on the table some strategies that are followed in the framework of this dialogue, such as Carmencita Citated or Cajamar's patronage. Likewise, the presidents of CEDMA (Sonja Dietz) and Aehtma (Cristina Sellés), and Dianense chef Pep Romany.
