19 2024 April - 10: 36

The educational project "Get to know the Port of Dénia", launched by the Port Advisory Board of the Port of Dénia, ends its IV edition today. This year, 300 ESO and Vocational Training students from six schools in Dénia, IES Sorts de la Mar, IES Historiador Chabas, Colegio Alfa & Omega and the Raquel Payá Special Education School, visited all the facilities.

«In this edition the activities have been expanded and we have summoned the Spanish Navy who have been giving talks all week. They have also been able to visit a Civil Guard patrol boat and have discovered what it is like to live on board. Both activities have greatly surprised the students and we would like to be able to repeat them in future editions. It is important for them because if they choose to study some engineering they can check the technology that is used in these boats. This initiative, which we started from the Port Advisory Board, has been gaining a lot of interest and we continue to have the support of the city's schools, the Dénia City Council, Mundo Marino, and in this edition with the commissioner of the Presidency of the Generalitat for the Port of Dénia, Pepa Font», said Gabriel Martínez, president of the Port Advisory Board of the Port of Dénia.

For his part, the captain of the ship, Joaquín Vegara, "for us it is very important that the citizens of a town like Dénia know the Navy and the Armed Forces. Spain is a great naval power and we are one of the few countries that build our own naval units and this gives us a very important strategic independence.

In addition, they have also visited the maxi trimaran Victoria of the ocean navigator, Alex Pella, who is preparing in the Port of Dénia to try to sail around the world to the West. The "Victory Challenge", a project that will be carried out in three phases during 2024 and 2025 with the aim of beating sporting challenges in addition to raising awareness and promoting actions for the care and regeneration of the Earth.

The objective of this project is for young people to get to know the Port of Dénia, as well as the opportunities and job opportunities it has. As in previous editions, each student will be given a catalog with information on all the companies and entities that make up the Port of Dénia. Throughout the week the students have taken a tour of the facilities to see the activity generated by the port in: Marina Dénia, the Dénia Yacht Club, Náutica Noguera, the Fishermen's Guild, Marina El Portet, Balearia and Varadero Port Dénia.
