The Civil Guard, within the services it performs in boarding and disembarking at the Port of Dénia, arrested a man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health for drug trafficking. The Dénia Guard Court decreed that he be placed in provisional prison without bail for these events.

On April 17, components of the Dénia Tax and Border Patrol carried out a Tax Protection service in the Port of Dénia, focused on supervising ferry boarding and disembarkation.

The agents observed certain signs that raised suspicions during a routine inspection of a vehicle bound for Ibiza, occupied only by its driver. This fact led to a more thorough inspection that revealed a handmade modification to the bottom of the car's trunk, creating a watertight space.

It was at that moment, when the agents realized that the interior of the trunk of the vehicle was full of a series of boxes with objects related to the field of hospitality and underneath them, how the bottom had been modified by hand, obtaining a watertight hole.

Given the driver's refusal to cooperate, the agents, using an angle grinder and other tools, proceeded to open the double bottom of the trunk, finding inside a package wrapped with a white substance.

Once the substance was weighed and analyzed, the agents confirmed their suspicions, it was 1,098 kilograms of cocaine.

The driver of the vehicle, a 36-year-old Colombian citizen and resident of Madrid, was immediately arrested on suspicion of committing a crime against public health due to drug trafficking. The individual, along with the seized drugs, the vehicle used and two mobile phone devices found, were handed over to the relevant judicial authorities.

After appearing before the Dénia Police Court, his entry into provisional prison without bail was ordered.
