What to do in Dénia this Holy Week?

30 March 2024 - 09: 15

The Easter holidays arrive in the town of Dénia. This Saturday, Sunday and Monday, citizens and visitors can choose from a wide variety of plans, both indoors and outdoors.

There are different options to choose from, including cultural, gastronomic, sports or leisure offers, depending on the weather of these last days of March and the first of April.

Lunch at the Dénia Municipal Market

Visitors and Dianenses who want to start their day in the most Valencian way possible can visit the Municipal Market, a place where they can take the famous esmorzaret (lunch), with sandwich and drink, in one of its historic bars. In addition, you can enjoy local products such as vegetables, fruits and salted meats in the various stalls present in the market.

The market is located on Magallanes Street and its hours are from 07:00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon. These holidays it will only be open on Saturday.

Walk and snack in Marqués de Campo

For shopping enthusiasts, an afternoon stroll along Marqués de Campo Avenue is one of the options for Easter. In this location there are a wide variety of stores, both clothing and footwear, for those who are already thinking of renewing their wardrobe.

On the same avenue there are different ice cream parlors, cafes and bars where you can grab something hot and have a snack to regain your strength. Its location is between Glorieta of the Valencian Country and the port.

Castle Tunnel

There is no better way to discover the history of Dénia than in the Tunnel of the Castle, a place created between 1937 and 1938 -during the Civil War in Spain- to protect the inhabitants from the bombings of the La Pava aircraft.

The tunnel owes its name to the fact that it is built under the Dénia Castle, connecting the Plaza del Consell with the Ronda de las Murallas. A perfect plan for history lovers, who can visit it on Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 to 2:00 in the morning.

Marineta Cassiana Beach

The most athletic can come to the Marineta Beach Cassiana, one of the closest to the town. It is the perfect place for walks, running or exercises in the sand such as yoga.

It is also an ideal plan for families with children, since they can play on the shore without any worry as there are no strong waves, and the water is shallow.

Exhibitions

Dénia is a city with a wide range of cultural plans and this weekend you can attend various exhibitions in the city's museums and halls.

In the House of Culture you can enjoy the exhibition Dénia and the Navy. The colors of the 50s from 10:00 a.m. to 13:30 p.m. on Saturday. It aims to remember that time lived in the town through unpublished images of Carlos Perrón, a dentist whose hobby was photography and was able to portray Dianense society with a special touch: color.

Additionally, at the l'Estació Art Center, you can visit other photographic works under the name Women of the World, by photographer Sibylle Schorlemmer, who has dedicated her life to taking portraits of women from different countries (especially less developed ones). It can be seen Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. and from 16:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m.

Finally, there is the possibility of going to the city's best-known museums, such as the Toy Museum in Dénia, which opens Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. and from 16:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m.; there is also the Ethnological museum, open on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 13:00 p.m., and the Museu de la Mar, open Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. and from 16:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m.
