Dénia will have a circular urban bus route, but for tourist seasons

22 October 2020 - 11: 59

The Councilor for Citizen Protection and Mobility, Javier Scotto, has presented this morning the urban public transport draft for the City Council to assume the current 4 lines and add, as a great novelty, a circular that surrounds and enters the urban area.

Now, Scotto has insisted on talking about a preliminary draft, assuming that it is not definitive and that, as he emphasizes, it is still a "living document". The intention of the consistory is to ask and listen to the citizens and different public agents so that they can give their opinion about the study that has been carried out, and thus carry out lines more in line with the needs, without trying, as the mayor pointed out, to stop the bus at the door of each house.

This will also have a considerable cost for the consistory that will be higher than 600.000 euros per year already counting on the income obtained from the sale of tickets. The forecast is to have the management of this service for at least 10 years with a large fleet of its own with diesel vehicles, assessing the substitution by sustainable transport in approximately 5 years.

Therefore, the City Council would take charge of the current 4 lines that cover the route through Les Rotes, Marines, Costa Calma and the journey to Hospital de Dénia. However, the great novelty is the incorporation of a new express circular route that surrounds the urban area as can be seen in the image that accompanies this news. The possibility of extending the route will be taken into account so that it also covers La Pedrera and has a stop at the maritime station de Baleària.

They will be accessible vehicles for people with reduced mobility and, therefore, the stops must be equally accessible. This leads to the restructuring of the roads through which it runs to accommodate these waiting points for the bus. So it is to be expected that, in those where the road requires it, parking spaces should be eliminated so that the coach can approach the stop and allow access for users. Among others, it will affect the Patricio Ferrándiz artery, which will have a large number of collection points.

The stops will be intelligent, reporting the route and waiting times of the buses that will not exceed 20 minutes between one and the other, since there will be two vehicles in charge of covering this circular route.

Now, the consistory, for now, is committed to opening this service only during high seasons. The summer, Easter, and other periods of great influx of visitors will have the circular public transport service, but the rest of the year for now will continue as before.

Scotto has not wanted to talk about deadlines to make this draft a reality. He did say that the intention at first was for it to be launched at the end of this year, but that due to the pandemic and his intention to present to the public to hear their contributions make this brand impossible, so there will still be what to expect.

    Good morning:
If there is something that Denia lacks, it is in public transport, something in which it is installed before having a population ...
In the future of course and without a doubt, if ELECTRIC are installed please.
There is the Montgo, which does not have any public transport and when it has had it every two hours and closed when it is most needed ... Thus it is impossible to give up your own vehicle, especially without sidewalks and with correct solar lighting, but it is NOT KEPT day, which is a priority, to be useful.
If the streets are going to be pedestrianized, the bus within them is unnecessary.
    On the streets outside, right.
Respect for what will happen to parked vehicles, or parking spaces within pedestrian streets, as is logical, parked vehicles must disappear.
You will have to come walking or with motorcycle wheelchairs, from Joan Fuster, which is where you will have to install as many parking spaces as you need, looking to a future of at least 500 years and thinking about the seasons in which this city is overwhelmed vehicular.
The UNDERGROUND PARKING that do not disturb and on top of it extensive PARKS, where you can enjoy yourself, what a good need they are, both UNDERGROUND PARKING, and PARKS.
And let's forget about continuing to grow as a city and let's not fall into the error of large cities, where pandemics, corruption, squatters, etc. the worst of the worst, because it is not achievable to control, due to overpopulation.
This is how they die, this is how they leave, this is how they are born this way they enter ... 50.000 inhabitants is already an excessive number and more considering that in summer it multiplies by four or more ...
That the residential area roads are kept past, in order to protect the Montgo Natural Park, both in buildings and in excess of road traffic or the Natural Park WILL NOT HAVE ANY VALUE in the future, because it will not be seen from any point of the city to the be covered by tall buildings and by the greatest of the deafening noises of traffic and without pollution.

The one who warns is not a traitor
    So the saying goes.

    All the best

Which company will be in charge of carrying this out.

I share Faustino's contribution, if we want to avoid taking the car, the bus schedules should be prolonged, of course after a certain time, reduce the services, but there is the possibility of using the service. The savings would come from fewer accidents, with the consequent expense.

And what about the public service for the citizens who live here? We do not matter? They may stop taxing us if they don't impact services for us. This is highly discriminatory, all only for tourism, while here we are paying to maintain what they want to turn into a Tourist Theme Park. Here you live, you work and not all of us live from tourism, you have to wake up gentlemen and have more dignity.

Afternoons. In the more than 30 years that I have lived partially in Denia, what I miss the most is a bus service, as long as possible in schedule, that runs the entire coastline of Les Marines, at least up to the NovaDenia roundabout since In the past it existed and to get closer to Denia it was not necessary to use a private vehicle. They are about 5 km. of coast in which there are hundreds of villas that constantly move to Denía and you find yourself in the need to use a private vehicle. The same occurs with younger people who must use their vehicles to get to Denia center and for walks. Could we study those routes and services to see if any improvement would be possible, no matter how small? I had a dream in which one summer afternoon / night I approached the bus stop, took the bus and went to Denia, had dinner in Denia, and after a few drinks we returned by bus to my house, without having to worry about traffic , where to park, the noise of so many cars, etc, etc ... I had it, I had that dream. Good afternoon.
