Five schools in Dénia disseminate healthy agriculture among their students

The dissemination of healthy agriculture among local students has become a priority aspect of the Department of the Environment that directs Josep Crespo.

Through the program HortsAescola, a thousand students from five educational centers of the municipality have become familiar with these agricultural practices, integrating the garden within the school schedule, so that the students can know first hand the different products that are given throughout the year in a garden, and relate them to the usual food in the school cafeteria and at home, as well as learning the tasks of an organic farming garden.

Five are the schools that participate in this program. The three educational centers with the initial program are the Cervantes, Maristas and Carmelitas, and the two centers with the reinforcement program are Raquel Payà and Pou de la Muntanya

HortsAescola It has meant the creation of spaces for the garden, delivery of various tools, staff, technical dossiers, materials, among which is a composter for school-, and the realization of periodic technical sessions. During the four months that are underway, more than 20 technical training and work sessions have been carried out, which will be extended until the end of the course.

Among the objectives of this program is to promote values ​​of awareness and education about the closest agricultural environment of the Marina Alta; education in sustainability, saving water and natural resources; awareness about the production, distribution and consumption of the local product; and the recovery of knowledge of the rural world.
