Every February, Dénia meets with its Moors and Christians, Festival of Regional Tourist Interest, with the celebration of Mig Any. This celebration basically serves to remember that six months have passed since the celebration of the Moors and Christians, and that there are only another six months left to fill the streets again.
Date
The Mig Any festivities are celebrated for eight days in the last week of February, approximately. At that time half a year ago it was the Moors and Christians festivities (which in Dénia are in August), and there are another six months to go before they return.
The program for each year is not exactly the same as the previous one, but the acts are usually very similar, respecting the last Saturday of February to complete this agenda. You can check the Full Mig Any program from Dénia here.
main acts
As during the August celebration, the Mig Any is divided into well-differentiated acts that culminate with a tour of the streets of Dénia from each row.
Reception of the rows
The night event that usually opens each year the MigAny programming is row reception. This act is usually held in a large municipal space that accommodates the more than 500 members that make up the party.
Presentation of captains, flag bearers and first tro
The act of presentation of captains, flag bearers and first trooper of the different rows is usually held on the Wednesday after the reception, at the Dénia Social Center. In it, the first tro, who are in charge of representing their row at the party, are presented to the public for the first time together, changing every year.
Gala dinner or Nit de les filaes
The gala dinner is the celebration prior to the main day of Mig Any, where the festeros gather for dinner in a large hall. In recent editions it has been replaced by the Nit de filaes, bringing together all the festeros for dinner under a tent that is installed in Torrecremada.
The last Saturday of February is the big day of the week of celebrations of Mig Any, with the entraeta of the rows that, that noon, go through the center of Dénia marching to the beat of the music. That same night the informal retreat takes place, repeating the same route although in a much more relaxed way.
Tour of the rows
Traditionally, both the official entrance and the informal retreat took place from Plaza del Consell to the port, passing through Calle Diana and, of course, Marqués de Campo, accompanied by their music bands. However, in 2022 the route was modified, leaving from Calle la Vía, going up Diana to els Cuatre Cantons, and from there crossing Marqués de Campo to the port.
