The Association of Marqués de Campo will be the voice of the neighbors opposite the town hall

23 July 2015 - 11: 59

Residents of the Calle Marques de Campo yesterday approved in assembly the statutes and the creation of the first Association of Resident Neighbors of Marqués de Campo Street. With the only points of the day dedicated to the acceptance of these statutes and the creation of the provisional board of directors, the 40 neighbors who came, unanimously, gave their yes to the association.

Some 40 people went to the assembly

Campos Street, the main street of our city, is characteristic for hosting many of the cultural and festive events, as well as fairs and markets that are held in Dénia. That is why some neighbors of this route wanted, for a long time, to create a neighborhood association to consolidate as a strong interlocutor before the town hall in possible future meetings. "It is more complicated to meet with those responsible for public administration being one, it is more effective to do so as an association" commented Lorena Romans, lawyer and neighbor who has been in charge of writing the statutes.

Unlike the innkeepers and the merchants of the area, the neighbors still did not enjoy this type of group. Now, yes, and with that, they intend to go all together in order to claim improvements in the lives of those who live in this well-known street.

In addition, many neighbors see with difficulty the possible pedestrianization, because it would prevent them from "arrive with the car near home to download the purchase or arrival of an ambulance in case of emergency". Therefore, once they are established, they will look for solutions in this aspect in future meetings. During this first contact, there were proposals such as green parking areas, free for residents on the street, or, if it was finally pedestrianized, pylons that could be lowered if necessary.

About forty neighbors came to the assembly to create the association

Romans insisted that it will be essential to live for more than six months a year in Marqués de Campo street, that is, to be a habitual resident to be part of the association. These people of the association will be those who in the future will benefit from what is decided in the ordinary assemblies.

The assembly also constituted a provisional board of directors, and a calendar of meetings. The board of directors will be formed by Alicia Costa, president; Isabel Ferrando, vice president; Juan Carlos Santonja, treasurer; Lorena Romans, secretary; Javier Ferrer, Joan Carles Blanquer, Joaquina Pérez Llobell and Isabel Llull, vocals. As for the statutes and the legality of the association, it is now in the hands of the Generalitat Valenciana that will have to approve it. In the affirmative case, meetings will begin to be held - the first of which is scheduled for the month of October - in which the neighbors will enjoy one vote per house.
