The National Police has arrested an individual in Dénia for his alleged involvement in a case of misappropriation in a company. According to the information provided by the authorities, the detainee, a 42-year-old man with a history of similar acts, would have used the credit card of the company in which he had recently been hired to make personal purchases.
The events occurred within a period of approximately 25 days. The owner of a personal mobility vehicle rental company had to take a trip abroad and entrusted a company credit card to one of his workers who had been in the company for a short time. The normal use of the card was to fuel the vans that were used daily.
When the administrator of the rental company inquired about expenses for that month, he discovered that the card entrusted to the worker had undergone a multitude of transactions. Purchases were detected at gas stations, clothing and footwear stores, purchases of mobile phone services, DIY stores and even several direct withdrawals from ATMs. The cardholder had made more than 35 movements over approximately 25 days. The transactions were carried out in the towns of Dénia and Benidorm, and amounted to a total expense of more than 8700 euros.
The crime was brought to the attention of the National Police Commissioner in Orihuela, but the proceedings were transferred to the Judicial Police Group of the National Police Commissioner of Dénia. From the beginning there was no doubt who the alleged perpetrator was, but more investigations were carried out to provide more information about what happened.
Information was taken from those involved and a witness to the events was heard in testimony. With all the information collected and having clear indications of authorship, the alleged perpetrator was arrested. The latter was located and arrested in the same Dénia town.
The alleged perpetrator is charged with a crime of misappropriation. The man is of German origin, is 42 years old and has different criminal records for similar events. At the time of his arrest he did not want to provide information on how he had used the card. The National Police has clarified the fact completely, bringing the proceedings to the attention of the Dénia Police Court of Investigation.
