The problem of sewage in Dénia sees a small light at the end of the tunnel. With more than 10.000 housing without connecting to the network throughout the city, this problem involves an environmental risk that, in addition, can lead to fines from the European Union.

Dénia City Council has announced that, in the coming year, around 1.500 homes on the Montgó and Marines They may be connected to the sewer network.

On the one hand, 350 housing del It montgó can be connected from now to the seven collectors that have been launched from the area of ​​the Marquesa to the Assagador de Cabanes made by the company Tragsa at the request of the Confederación Hidrográfica del Júcar (CHJ).

On the other hand, next week the improvement works will start in two streets of Marines, Llac Txat and Riu Gorgos, who had deficiencies that did not allow neighbors to connect to the network. Thanks to these improvements, in a month the works will have finished and until 1.000 homes will be able to connect to the sewerage network.

Finally, before failures the works of the Collector E, in the area of ​​the Residencia de Santa Lucía, which will allow the connection of 150 more homes in the Montgo from next Easter.

Term and cost of the connection

The cost of the connection works of each dwelling to the sewerage network is borne by the neighbors, and its price will depend on several factors such as the distance of the pipe to the pit or the hardness of the land that is excavated. Since the City Council have not dared to make any average estimate since the price can vary greatly.

Councilman Environment, Josep Crespo, and the Deputy Mayor of Dénia, Rafa Carrió, have explained that from the consistory, in collaboration with Aqualia, the payment of the work will be facilitated if necessary, splitting it in time according to the needs of each home.

They also recalled that there is an agreement signed between the City Council and the Association of Small Builders of Dénia to carry out these works, although each neighbor is free to choose the company they want to perform the work.

According to the municipal ordinance, from the moment in which the collectors start up, the neighbors will have a period of one year to connect to the network, and this time they are exempt from paving the construction site at the end.

Sewer system from Les Rotes

On the other hand, yesterday Wednesday a meeting was held with the residents of Les Rotes to agree with them the date of commencement of the works of the collector from San Nicolás to the crossing of Xàbia that will allow the connection to the sewerage of that area.

The City Council proposed three options: start now, postpone them at the end of summer or delay the work until the month of January of 2020, which was the option chosen by the neighbors.
