A hundred people participated last Wednesday in the day Per a què serveix la responsabilitat social? organized by the Fundació Baleària and the Business Circle of the Marina Alta (CEDMA) in the Jauja Port room of the Maritime station.
The meeting was attended by Domingo García, Professor of Business Ethics at the Jaume I University of Castellón, who stressed the importance of companies being socially responsible because "Companies will be able to respond to what they do and thus create a climate of trust between them and their stakeholders.".
After his presentation there was a round table on which participated Adolfo Utor, President of Baleària, José Juan Fornés, general director of the MasyMas supermarkets, Joan Server, general director of Rolser, and Sonja Dietz, President of CEDMA, representing the group of micro-SMEs.
Utor, which has recently publicly presented the social responsibility report of BaleàriaHe stressed that "ethics and social responsibility are profitable" in a time when business culture is lacking. In this sense, the president of Baleària recalled that "We are working to ensure that our workers have a sense of belonging for the company project."
CEDMA president stated flatly that "SMEs are not sensitized to corporate social responsibility", And noted that "Social responsibility should interest us all since SMEs or micro-SMEs form an 99,9% of the total business fabric and have an important weight in our society". For Dietz, "The most beautiful thing about CSR, in addition to fulfilling your obligations, is the constant dialogue with employees and with the external world".
For his part, José Juan Fornés said "It is a benefit for the company because it optimizes, improves the image and guarantees sustainability and the environment"While Server concluded that "On issues of social responsibility, even if we do a lot, there are still many things to do".
