The City Council on the strike at the residence: "The decision was already taken before starting the dialogue"

November 20 from 2020 - 11: 22

After the announcement of the call for a strike by all the nursing staff of the Santa Llúcia public residence for the elderly, PSPV has released a statement in which it is against this decision and suggests that the negotiations were not going to change this outcome at all.

The Dénia City Council has regretted this decision, ensuring that they were still open to dialogue and negotiation to respond to the claims of the collective. However, this is not what the workers who have called the strike claim, since they point out that the City Council asked them for a deadline to respond which has already been met and they have not received any.

In addition, the executive is very critical of some of the statements of the nursing staff in his notification, such as that "Every effort has been made to prevent the strike". The PSPV indicates that this call has not been previously communicated to the consistory, "So it makes us think that the decision to go on strike was possibly already taken before the dialogue process began", they indicate in their statement.

The local government has not responded to the demands of its workers hiding behind the fact that "they do not conform to reality". They defend that the ratio of nurses in Santa Llúcia is above that set by the Generalitat and also insist that during their legislatures they have constantly invested in improving the facilities of the residence. However, due to the current situation, the work of this staff required an extra effort that was translated into overtime that, as indicated in their list of demands, should be compensated financially and was not being done. Extra hours that should not be done if the ratio was, in the same way, adjusted to reality, or at least to the current one since it was set in 2005 without a health crisis.

Despite this, the City Council assures that they are willing to respond to these demands that the workers have reduced after the first meeting with the local executive. Of course, adding that the decision of the indefinite strike has been made at the worst possible moment.

What bad people please. No one in their right mind would take advantage of the pandemic that affects fatally and mainly the elderly in nursing homes to go on strike at this time. These nurses and nurse aides should have both civil and criminal consequences for what they are doing.
Claim your rights once the pandemic is controlled and NOT now.
    Really disgusting people
