Two rescuers save the lives of two children who bathed in Les Rotes while waving the red flag

11 September 2017 - 00: 43

Two lifeguards managed to save the lives of two minors, 10 and 11 years old, who this Sunday morning were bathing on the beach of Les Rotesat the height of restaurant Mena, despite waving the red flag and having been previously warned of the situation.

It appears that minors were not in the company of adults at the time of the incident. In spite of being covered by the red flag, the two lifeguards rushed to the sea to their aid in an especially complicated situation, since the strong swell that at that moment prevented that the boats could arrive at the place.

That is why we proceeded to alert the emergency service, who was willing to activate the rescue helicopter. Fortunately, his intervention was not necessary, and after 20 minutes of work, the minors were rescued. It is worth mentioning the collaboration of an experienced Belgian swimmer of 60 years, who participated actively in the operation.

The Local Police moved to the scene to take the data of the children and their parents for the negligence committed, which put at risk the lives of the minors and the lifeguards in a situation that the witnesses "limit".

Fortunately there was no regret other than the fading of one of the lifeguards at the end of the rescue, possibly the result of the nerves and the tension of the moment.
