Urbanizarte will restore damaged facades with graffiti city

Last summer, six facades from different parts of the city that were in a state of abandonment came back to life thanks to the art of several graffiti artists that with their designs and the initiative of Multisecma Urbanizarte. This year, again, five facades of the city will be intervened thanks to the convening of the second edition of Urbanize Art in Dénia that was presented yesterday.

From today until the next 10 in May, the call for artists interested in participating in this contest that will take place on 21 and 22 days in June will be open.

The president of Multisecma, Luis Silvestre, explained that this year as a novelty the spaces that will be intervened will not be chosen directly by the organization, but that the owners of facades interested in participating are invited to inform Multisecma by calling 96 578 66 22 or sending an email to multisecma @ entrepreneurs-Cedma.es Among those presented, the organization will select the five facades on which the contestants will perform. Its owners will be asked for a collaboration of 5 euros per square meter of façade for painting expenses.

The professor of Fine Arts of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, Imma Mengual, emphasized the benefits of investing in culture for a city like Dénia, and in addition to improving its image and adding value to its landscape, it generates opportunities and makes Dénia a creative and innovative city.

Pablo Segarra will be the curator of this year's edition and stressed the importance of giving a quality image to those who visit us to return to the city.

This year we are looking for designs with a positive and ethical theme, highlighting healthy habits, sustainability, the sea and the environment. Artists can use various techniques such as graffiti, stencil, muralism or mixed media, and can perform their interventions both individually and by groups. The May 17 will be announced the names of the selected artists, each of which will be awarded with 500 €.
