Three students from IES Sorts de la Mar will visit Mauthausen-Gusen on a trip financed by the FVMP

February 03 from 2023 - 13: 27

The Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP) and the Amical de Mauthausen and other fields association, within the "Memòria: democratic coexistence" program, promotes a trip and stay in Mauthausen-Gusen for this 2023. The Dénia City Council, for the current call, presented the candidacy of IES Sorts de la Mar, which has been selected to live the experience.

The Dianense institute has been selected and, at the beginning of May, three 1st year Baccalaureate students from the center, accompanied by their Contemporary World History teacher, Maria José Borredá, will travel and spend a stay in Mauthausen. This trip will coincide with the celebration of the Day of Tribute to the Spaniards deported and deceased in Mauthausen and other camps and to all the victims of Nazism in Spain.

It is, therefore, an initiative to approach the experience of the absence of human rights and democratic freedoms, the terror that invades people and society in dictatorships and totalitarianism, and the need to reinforce values democratic.

The experience is financed by the FVMP and they will be accompanied, according to the bases of the call, by a representative person in the Dénia City Council, whose travel, stay and maintenance will be paid for by the consistory.

Institute Selection

The Dénia City Council, after having contacted the director and teachers, selected the IES Sorts de la Mar to apply for the 2023 call for different reasons. On the one hand, it is an educational center where, for some time, activities on Democratic Memory have been carried out. It was also taken into account that the other two secondary schools in the city, Historian Chabás and Maria Ibars, were already selected years ago to participate in this initiative. An experience that the participants valued very positively.

In the evaluation to carry out the selection of participants for the trip, the involvement of the Dénia City Council in the activities of Democratic Memory has also been assessed: projects such as "Memory and future" or "Let's make memory. Dénia, war and repression ", which already have several editions completed.

But, in particular, the direct involvement of the municipality with the victims of the Nazi death camp is valued. In recent years, the Consistory has worked to value the memory of the four Dianenses who were imprisoned in the Mauthausen-Gusen camp. In 2018, he organized a tribute, as part of the "Let's make memory. Dénia, war and repression" program, which included a photographic exhibition, talks for the public and in educational centers and an act in the municipal cemetery, with the collaboration of relatives of the victims and the Amical de Mauthausen association of the Valencian Community.

In addition to Dénia, the municipalities of Cocentaina, Vinaròs, Segorbe, Oliva, Requena and Sagunt have been selected to participate in this edition.

I think it's a great idea, with this they will realize the atrocities that human beings can commit and feel ashamed, for belonging to this species.
Later, to complete the cultural journey and broaden their knowledge, a trip to Cambodia, Siberia or any re-education center in mainland China, surely some remain.
In order not to limit knowledge to our young people, young people and young people (the corrector does not allow the use of inclusive language, he is smarter than us).

I abhor these atrocities, wherever they come from.

Culture in general is very important….But, are they trying to instruct our 16-year-olds in DEMOCRACY AND HISTORICAL MEMORY and take them outside our borders, when in Our Spain? IS THIS DENIED?
THEY ERASE OUR HISTORICAL GREATNESS, UNPARAGONAL IN THE WORLD, OF COURSE, IN OTHER BETTER TIMES.
WHY:: BECAUSE THEY HAVE NEVER COLLABORATED IN IT.
    Good Morning.
