The clinic REMA and Sports Colau have joined forces to improve services to their athletes. Thus, REMA will offer athletes Sports Colau cardiological medical examinations. Including expert clinical cardiologists can make athletes: electrocardiograms, Doppler echocardiography and stress testing gases.
Sports Colau founder, José Gilabert, and the prestigious cardiologist and head of the REMA Clinic, Doctor of Guia, were present to make this deal happen.
Both wanted to highlight the importance of this cooperation for the players.
José Gilabert, stated that "with this agreement we are thinking of the athlete and his best performance, obviously the effort tests will give us important data for his improvement." And for his part, Dr. Fernando de la Guía, director of the Instituto Cardiológico Marina Alta (ICMA) and the Sports Cardiology Clinic- REMA (Denia), highlighted the importance of medical check-ups for athletes. And he also explained that more and more people are fond of sports, which can constitute what is known as "non-elite athlete". Of these, at least 1 in 3 are over 35 years of age, where cardiovascular prevention of sudden death is essential.
Dr. Guide recognizes that people doing sport is currently conducting physical activity to a higher level for his age, come into competition without knowing if your heart is adapted to these working levels, and therefore raises the importance of these awards.
In order to control the athletes and prevent greater risks to the heart, in REMA are carried out controls with specialized doctors in Sports Cardiology, integrating the echocardiographic study (basic and fundamental test in athletes), with the test of effort with measurement of gases (ergospirometry or cycloergospirometry), integrating the knowledge of cardiology in sports.
