The causes of the fire that devastated more than 400 hectares in the Montgó fire have not been determined. This was communicated by the General Director of Prevention, Fire Extinction and Pre-emergencies, Irene Rodríguez, at the Extraordinary Meeting of the Natural Park Montgó which took place in Dénia.
Rodriguez read a comprehensive report stressed that the day the fire occurred all conditions for this should occur were given; very dry soil, high temperature, low humidity and wind, so that the rapid spread could not be avoided.
The fact that the fire took place in an area where there are many houses was another complicated factor since people had to be evicted from 1.400, therefore, Irene Rodríguez announced that work is being done on the preparation of a risk map in order to to carry out actions to minimize them.
At this meeting was also present, Salomé Pradas, Director of the Environment, who announced that by the year 2015 the park will exclusively with a maintenance brigade, with a foreman and four pawns and not like this where this brigade had to share with the Oliva-Pego park, because of budget cuts.
Recovery efforts in the affected area
Carlos Llinares, conservative Director of Natural Park Montgó, gave a comprehensive report of the work from Consellería being carried out in the affected area.

Some works that according to Llinares himself " they are the correct ones and we hope that the recovery of the affected area is total. Initially the time of execution of the work was six months and I think they can be reduced to a shorter time".
José Chulvi criticized the lack of means of extinction
