Why is Dénia the last option among Valencian teachers?

06 September 2023 - 10: 15

Who says Dénia says all the Marina Alta, and who says "teachers" means any type of public official. Although it must be qualified, the big problem with this destination is suffered especially by temporary workers and those professionals who have to cover temporary positions, usually sick leave to fill jobs that would otherwise be impossible. However, among the destinations that they must select in their order of preferences, it has been normalized to avoid any municipality in this region.

But what is the problem? It is a place where we presume to belong as thousands of people invest part of their annual savings to spend a few weeks here. There are many people who want to come, but living longer seasons is another story. There are good services, "good" weather and outside the summer we have the perfect combination of atmosphere and tranquility. So why avoid Dénia when it comes to looking for an eventual public square? Due to two problems that together become a real problem: housing and transportation.

Where to live?

The rent in Dénia has been unaffordable for years. And far from solving or putting obstacles to its increase, although in the elections all the parties admitted that there is a crisis that must be addressed, the price continues to grow month by month without anyone knowing how far it is willing to go. The residents of the area still allow themselves to sacrifice their lifestyle and a large percentage of their income for their roots. For living in your city. Removing that feeling of belonging, who would not prefer to go to any other place than Dénia to live better?

The interims know the situation of the Marina Alta and the accounts do not come out. Coming to work here is more expensive than anywhere else and there are many more municipalities that you can choose from. Although this would not be a problem if they had the facilities to travel to this city and have the possibility of maintaining their current residence or looking for a house in a region that is friendlier to their neighbors. But no, there is no such facility either.

How to come?

The fact of not having a fast and efficient commuter train line prevents the option of coming from abroad to work. The lack of decent connections, from the XNUMXst century, has turned the region into an island. Either you resort to long, daily journeys in your own vehicle from afar or, again, you choose a destination to work where at least they offer you the possibility of getting there quickly with a train from your home. Or you get on a "trenet" that takes an hour and a half to cross between regions. Again, why choose Dénia then?

This creates an advantage for opponents of the Marina Alta and those who are in the public employment pools, since it is easier for them to stay in the area. There is no competition from outside, because only those who live here choose this destination as their priority. However, when there are not enough workers and no solution has been provided, there will be serious problems to cover public squares.

Good morning . In all of them that I have read, there is a common factor that is discontent with the Municipality and the “progressive” government. very few think otherwise, without arguing or defending their progressivism. Well, the truth is that it is not appreciated favorably unfortunately.
The worst thing is that the rather low quality of politicians is general throughout Spain. and their policies are selfish and vindictive and only seek to come to power. Not as rulers, but as owners of everything for their party. and the rest of society.', to keep them as 'rich' and pay for their waste and mistakes. <<
    Sad and unfortunate.

  2. Mamen says:

Don't make excuses for the price of housing. Other areas with very high prices are in excess demand.

Transportation is a real problem that, in a short time, will end up driving many people with sufficient solvency out of Denia.

You cannot forget the dirt of the streets and beaches beyond the Benidorm square, the lack of light, sidewalks, etc. They have grown a lot, taxes are very high and there is no infrastructure or quality services. The only interest is the heart of the town and the repetition of local celebrations (the town with the most festivals in Spain).

Finally, the disaffection that is occurring due to the exacerbated hatred of many locals and the language.

Please make him look at it. The votes must be protected but the price is the future.

  3. Raul says:

Or better. Ignacio and Luis go to have coffee together and fantasize about what you would do if you were politicians. How would you oppress the people guilty of all evils like a lord of the Middle Ages imposing his corveas?

  4. Fernando says:

WHY DOES THE ARTICLE FOCUS ON OFFICERS? Private workers who create wealth have it much worse with lower salaries and greater demands.

  5. Rudolf says:

The problem is clear, tourist myopia of the progressive city council for many years.
Investments only in actions that supposedly attract tourism, absolute permissiveness in rentals and uncontrolled sales that facilitate a tremendous bubble of unattainable prices. Zero infrastructures, zero thought in the citizen who lives 11 months a year with terrible services and 1 overwhelmed by an excess of uncontrolled tourism.
    Attract quality work? So that
    Attract quality inhabitants? So that
    Attract local investment? So that
    Provide housing? So that
Improve daily and necessary services? So that
It does not look beyond turning this wonderful city into a tourist center difficult to manage.
Sometimes, progressive gentlemen, the forest does not allow us to see the trees and not looking to the future is a syndrome of decadence.
Your ambition to line your pockets is only impoverishing an admirable people who will soon have to look for better alternatives for their daily life, fed up with paying leonine taxes so that you do not return a penny in their well-being.

    Amount of bullshit is written

  7. Dani says:

One of the reasons would be the obligatory requirement of the Valencian to work in the town hall.
It is one of the dirty things that the current left has done.
Of course they are an example of bad people.
Dénia needs a Mayor who thinks of the people: free cinemas, work, better transportation, travel vouchers, tourism promotion, infrastructures (a decent Bus Station, the second Health Center, a Theater-Auditorium...) and better planning urban.
But that right now is impossible.
Therefore, in the face of this mismanagement, I ask for the resignation of Grimalt and the calling of elections.

  8. Raul says:

Applicable even for any human being who is or decides to settle in Denia.

    • Ignacio says:

Exactly, but AIRBNBs do not stop growing. The greed of the people renting touristically and speculating with the right to housing. The worst? Foreigners who do not live here and who have bought directly to speculate. Let them do it in their countries if they want to profit by destroying the social structure, let them destroy theirs, let them not come here to destroy ours.

      • Raul says:

Yes, but if the politicians put a red carpet for them to destroy the social structure that we have. And they do not look for alternatives to tourism. Nothing changes. Now "promoting" Denia in times square is the example. The tourism train only has one direction, I get on or you rot. They neither want nor look for an alternative, according to them it does not exist, and if it does exist they do not know about it, they say.

        • Luis says:

Absolutely right, but who offers is the people and who also rents. Greed. Later, if it is prohibited, they cry about how bad the government is and how it cuts off our liberties.

        • Raul says:

The problem is not who complies with the rules, but the rules.

I can understand you, but that of blaming the citizen... is already widely seen. For what matters, there are regulations and taxes.

        • Ignacio says:

Is blaming the citizen very popular? Where? We have the society we vote for and the one we build with our actions and decisions every day. What is widely seen is blaming politicians for responsibilities that start with us. For example: dirt on the streets. Who does the dirty? But it's easier for us to be dirty and complain that they don't clean.

        • Raul says:

It is not the fault of the citizens. It belongs to politicians in 99% of cases.

Of course it is seen. It's what they do.

        • Raul says:

By the way. Go add comments to another site and let me express my opinion without nuances that no one has asked for. Write your own opinion without relying on others. And defending politicians and blaming citizens at the lowest level is despicable. That's it for my bream dialogue with you. Now qualify and add.

        • Raul says:

Or better. Ignacio and Luis go to have coffee together and fantasize about what you would do if you were politicians. How would you oppress the people guilty of all evils like a lord of the Middle Ages imposing his corveas?

        • Raul says:

And in any case you will be the dirty one because I don't dirty a single piece of paper. The thief believes that everyone is his condition. If you are a slut, don't put us in your bag. As I said, the coffee awaits you Luis and Ignacio
