Pilot the carrer, games, concerts and even a correfoc in the extensive programming of this year's Nou d'Octubre in Dénia

28 September 2023 - 11: 56

With the Nou d'Octubre just around the corner, the Dénia City Council presented this Thursday the programming for a date that has become essential for all culture lovers. For a few years now, the institutional events have been joined by a series of activities to bring the celebration closer to the city's residents, usually culminating in a high-level concert. All of this will be expanded in 2023, with one of the most extensive programming in memory, and for all audiences.

Vicent Grimalt, Mayor of Dénia, Rafa Carrió, vice mayor and councilor of Normalització Lingüística, Raul Garcia de la Reina, Councilor for Culture and Festivals, and Valen Alcala, councilor for Joventut and Esports, have presented this morning the programming of a Nou d'Octubre which, in addition to being an event for vindication and pride, almost becomes a weekend of festivities.

"We have managed to bring culture back to the streets," Grimalt was proud after the results of previous editions with which they have managed to involve citizens. And the fact is that, beyond the institutional events in which representatives of all political groups traditionally participate, and which this year moves as a great novelty to the Plaça Pere Eiximen d'en Carròs (First Grup of Mariners), culture and Valencian tradition will once again be the protagonist through different musical, sports, leisure and, ultimately, festive activities.

More concerts and activities for all ages

This “broad, diverse and for all audiences” programming, as Rafa Carrió pointed out, will begin on Friday October 6 with the first edition of Languagefest. This year instead of a concert there will be a music festival to open the program. The Llenguafest will celebrate its first edition at 19:00 p.m. in the Plaça del Consell with the participation of Valencian artists Novembre Elèctric, Sa Pena and Esther. An event that, as Valen Alcalà defended, they hope will become a tradition in the city. Almost at the same time, at 19:30, In the Library a poetry recital will take place by M. Josep Escrivà and with Miquel Pérez on the guitar.

El Saturday, October 7, at 12:00, will take place in the Plaza de la Constitució children's theater Poble Balls, by Estranya Companyia de Teatre. At 16:30 p.m., in Plaza Jaume I, Joventut organizes a series of activities for the whole family, with traditional games, a poetry recital and an outdoor escape room (the latter, free but with registration by calling 966423700 starting September 29). The day will conclude at 18:00 in the Plaza del Consell with the concert The meua terra en tribute to the career of Paco Muñoz, with the participation of Josep Aparicio, Ina Martí, Aitana Ferer, Xavi de Bétera, the Dénia Musical Artistic Group, Enric Murillo, César Murillo, Fraskito, Àlvar Calabuig and Ada Murillo.

The pilot returns to the streets of Dénia

El Sunday, October 8, the most special day, arguably, of this year's Nou d'Octubre programming will be held. For a start, will recover the pilot when racing in Dénia, which has not been seen in the city since 2017. They will bring the quintessential Valencian sport closer to neighbors with the celebration of its closest version, with three raspall games that will take place in the morning on Carrer de l'Escullera. From 09:00 the Dénia Pilot School will hold two games for juniors and juniors. At 11:00 the main confrontation will take place between Àlex, Tomaca and Flare, and Jordi, Néstor and Kiko.

And once the night has fallen the wicks will be lit for the first correfoc which takes place in a program of the Nou d'Octubre in Dénia. This is the show that had to be postponed during the July festivities, directed by Dimonis Polopins, but on this occasion it will tour, from the 21:00, Via, Diana and Plaça del Consell streets.

October 9

On Monday the 9th, the main events will be held, with the already mentioned institutional event for the New October, this time at the First Grup Mariners, and in which the Dénia Musical Artistic Group, Dianium Dansa and the dolçaina and tabal group Canya Badà also participate. At the end the parade will begin until Glorieta of the Valencià Country with the dances of Dianium Dansa together with the giants Tirant and Carmesina.

In addition, throughout October the conferences will be held The conquered societies. From the Islamic medina of Daniya to Dénia, the flat town of Castell, with a series of conferences and visits to bring Dianense history closer to attendees.

Jolín last year offered a Popular Paella that was great, a super atmosphere of people. !! We are Madrileños, residents for 10 years in Dénia!! Happy to join and!!! You don't give us a paella on the street, which is the best. – How stingy 😉
Come think about it, give it time!!

…..And on the 9th they finish “the civic procession” in the Glorieta…..
Ha ha ha…. You will go to see the state of the works and the level of disaster, right?
