Dénia is not a city where snow is frequently seen. In fact, every time a flake falls, that date becomes an event. The snowfall of '60, the snowfall of '83 and, of course, the most recent, January 2017, which will soon be 7 years old.
Many times you have to wait several decades to enjoy the image, but Dénia covered in snow is not as unusual as it seems. Although everything is against it, snow has made an appearance in the city on quite a few occasions. And, of course, when this happens the municipality comes to a standstill to enjoy the event.
First decade of the 20th
Photography shared by Rossa Bertomeu in the Dénia Antiga Facebook group. The image shows the Torrecremada farm during its first years. Everything indicates that it is the snowfall of 1907, when the construction was barely a few decades old.
1933
Photograph from the Dénia Municipal Archive, donated by Bernat Cardona and Pepa Far. The image took place on November 18, 1933, during another of those unusual snowfalls in Dénia. In it you can see the Plaza del Convent and the church of Sant Antoni completely covered by a layer of very thick snow.
1957
Photograph of the snowfall of '57 shared by Javier Pérez Carrió in the Dénia Antiga Facebook group. That snowy area of the Dénia coast that appears immortalized, today belongs to the port area of the city. More specifically to the Real Club Náutico de Dénia.

We had to wait almost 35 years to see the snow set again in Dénia. On the morning of January 18, 2017, the neighbors woke up with the entire city white. Even on the beach it took hold, although a few hours later there was no trace of the first snowfall of the XNUMXst century. Luckily, the photographs remain.
