The Department of the Mayor of the Dénia City Council has organized the cycle of talks The Voices of Experience. This is a series of conferences in which the elderly people of Dénia will share their personal experiences, their motivations and their dreams.
The inauguration of the cycle will be, on Friday, November 17, by María Dolores Lerín, with the conference Discover literature in the Third Age. Lerín is currently a student at the Classrooms for the Third Age, and was a theater artist, singer and comedian, and also dedicated herself to making clothing and shoe lining.
María Dolores Lerín was born in 1945 in Zaragoza. After living in Barcelona and Switzerland, she settled in Dénia. Once retired, she decided to dedicate herself to literature and wrote her first novel “Shadows on the Stairs.” The book is based on a true story, his own. María Dolores will introduce us to this new facet of her life, that of a writer. She will tell us how and why this discovery of literature in the elderly came about and everything that this initiative is contributing to her.
Councilor Mayor, Marta Gasco, has indicated that the objective of his council is that “our elders actively participate in the life of the city of Dénia and we must not forget everything they have contributed and continue to contribute to our society. With these talks, our elders become the protagonists, transmitting their knowledge to us, and ultimately their own experience. The main objective of these conferences is to demonstrate that the Third Age is still very active, and that many things can still be done, as has happened to María Dolores Lerín, who, already retired, decided to write a novel. Her talk will be focused on telling how the idea of writing a book came about, what the process of starting to write was like, what she felt, and what that experience was like and how it helped her, and above all what it has meant to her.
The talk Discover literature in the Third Age by María Dolores Lerín will be held on Friday, November 17, at 18:00 p.m., in the Multipurpose Room (3rd floor) of the Dénia Social Center. Entrance is free and open.
