Foreigners buy more residences helped by fiscal policies

13 March 2015 - 11: 00

More and more tourists and foreign residents choose to buy a second home in Spain. The situation is unlikely to change. Quite the opposite. So strong were the conclusions of the tax experts who gathered yesterday in Dénia, in a conference organized by the Forum Foundation Lex.

In fact, the speakers pointed out that the recent changes in the Spanish tax reform still favor this type of real estate transactions.

The day was opened by the Minister of Finance and Public Administration of the Generalitat Juan Carlos Moragues, who in statements to the media said that "the province of Alicante leads the number of sales of used homes throughout Spain." He also said that "one in five people who stopped being unemployed last year came from the Valencian Community." The minister insisted that the province of Alicante leads this dynamic and gave it as an example "of receiving foreign tourists, buying and selling used homes and reducing unemployment."

Lower taxes

The popular politician, learned in tax matters, also said that "now is the time to lower taxes" since "where money is best is in the pocket of citizens." And he indicated that the fiscal policies applied (that is, the reduction of taxes) have made it possible for Valencians to "have between 280 and 450 euros in their pockets throughout the year, which they will have already noticed in their payroll."
