The merchants of the center of Dénia show their displeasure by the deadlines of the works

May 08 from 2018 - 13: 56

Half a hundred merchants from the center of Dénia and the Municipal Market have concentrated this Tuesday at noon on Carlos Street Sentí, at the gates of the market, to show his discomfort over the dates chosen for the execution of the works on La Mar y Colón street.

The merchants, who claim not to be against the realization of these improvement works, believe that the City Council could have chosen less conflictive dates, since the summer campaign is the most important for them.

So much so that they claim that the months of July and August are between an 30 and an 40% annual turnover, and that the losses of those profits may prevent them from keeping the staff hired and even keep the business running in the following months.

The unrest with the City Council is great. In the month of March they held a meeting with municipal representatives in which they were told that the works would start the 2 in April, with a deadline of five months. After that date, and with the works still pending, they received a notification confirming the start of the works for the 2 for May with a deadline of execution, in this case, of five months.

When knowing the dates of the works they proposed to the executive that the works of the street The Sea were realized in two sections, but from the City council they affirm that this possibility is not viable. The merchants announce new mobilizations to show their displeasure with the election of the dates of the works, that affect to near 80 commerce of the zone and to the vendors of the Municipal Market.

Along with the affected merchants have been the Councilors of PP María Mut e Isabel Gallego; the spokesperson for Citizens, Sergio Benito; and the president of the ACE, Antonio Llopis.
