One more year, the Dénia City Council, from the different municipal areas, wants to reward the social commitment of the Fallas districts that recognize and are committed to diversity and equality, to the promotion of Valencian, and above all make Dénia a city for childhood, sustainability and solidarity.
With this objective, on Sunday, March 17, during the awards ceremony for the monuments of the Fallas 2024 (at 13:00 p.m., the children's awards ceremony; and at 20:30 p.m., awards ceremony for large monuments), the departments of Equality, Linguistic Normalization, Family and Childhood, Health and Ecological Transition will also announce their recognitions.
Among the novelties, the prize for the Promotion of Valencian increases the financial prize this year and will award, in addition to the three prizes of 700 euros, 500 euros and 300 euros, respectively, three new second prizes of 150 euros each.
From Equality, in order to "make visible and normalize diversity in the area of Dénia's failures, address sexual, gender and family diversity and contribute to making a more inclusive and egalitarian society", three prizes will be awarded to the Promotion of Diversity, of 600 euros, 300 euros and 150 euros, and another three of the same amount to reward the commitment "to equality between men and women and the fight against gender violence" (Prizes for the Promotion of equality).
These awards focus on the dissemination of messages against sexism and the use of inclusive language in Falla criticism, as well as the presence of women on the boards of directors of the commissions and objectives of parity and breaking the glass ceiling. .
The Department of Health will award the Cor Faller award to the most supportive commission during the blood donation day that took place on March 1. It is more of a symbolic recognition, materialized with the delivery of a banner, which seeks to motivate the Fallero world to participate in these blood donation days organized by the Local Board Fallera together with the Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community.
Likewise, during the presentation of the awards to the children's monuments, the representatives of the Local Children's Council will present the banner accrediting the Award for the Rights of Children and Adolescents.
Finally, from the Department of Ecological Transition, the Awards for Best Environmental Criticism, Correct Waste Management and Minimization of Climate Change will be presented, three awards, sponsored by Urbaser, the concessionaire company of the urban cleaning service, endowed with 1.000 euros, 600 euros and 400 euros.
Awards for Tourist Criticism, Libreto de Falla and Casal Engalanado.
They complete the list of prizes awarded by the city council:
- Tourism Criticism Awards, from Dénia Tourism: 750 euros, 450 euros and 300 euros.
- Prizes in the Llibret de Falla, from the Department of Culture: 700 euros, 600 euros and 500 euros.
- Awards for the Best Decorated Casal, for Parties: 300, 200 and 100 euros.
