The UNED of Dénia celebrates a Day of Elements of Criminal Law

May 08 from 2019 - 11: 25

The 3 of May took place the day Elements of Criminal Law in the UNED Dénia CA, where the definition of criminal law was addressed in a theoretical manner and it was learned to identify, with practical examples, an act constituting a crime.

The day was given by Mr. Miguel María Cots Cañada, Deputy Prosecutor of the Territorial Section Prosecutor's Office of Gandia and Tutor Professor of the Center Associated to the UNED of Dénia. In the act were present Raquel Martí, director of the UNED of Dénia, and D. Jaume Tortosa, secretary of the UNED of Dénia.

The first part of the day focused on learning to differentiate Criminal Law from the rest of the branches of law and to identify its main elements as well as the principles that inform it.

Miguel María Cots Cañada began defining Criminal Law as "A set of positive legal rules that regulate the punitive power of the State and define as crimes or dangerous states certain budgets to which assign certain legal consequences that in the case of Spanish law are penalties and the security measures "

During the second part of the day Miguel María Cots highlighted the problems that exist in determining when there is a crime and when there is no crime "There are crimes that are easy but there are other crimes that are a bit more complicated and that we have not yet internalized, especially the management of the information we do through the applications, where the crime limit is, where it is not ( ...)"The crimes of harassment in minors committed in networks and crimes of gender violence stand out today.

To help students identify when an act constitutes a crime or not, several real practical cases were discussed and analyzed.

It was a participatory day where the students had the opportunity to ask all their questions, learn what is Criminal Law and see some of the problems that arise in the day to day when we apply the right.

The days can be followed online or in person and are open to all audiences upon registration. Next Thursday 9 will take place the last day of this academic year, "Positive Psychology: Learn to Be Happy".
