January 12 from 2017 - 10: 18

30 out of every hundred thousand people in the Marina Alta are infected with the flu virus right now. This figure is much lower than that registered on average in the Valencian Community, where with 70 infected people per hundred thousand, it has already reached the level of an epidemic.

From the Dénia Department of Health explain that the highest incidence in the region is expected during the last two weeks of January. Says the Chief of Preventive Medicine Dénia Department of Health, Dr. Antonio Valdivia, "the rates begin to increase with the return to school activity, after the holiday period. The minors are the first infected and after them, the adults".

That is why from his department emphasize the importance of vaccination, emphasizing that, "Throughout the month of January, the flu vaccine can be requested at all health centers in the Marina Alta. The recommendation is to be administered as soon as possible, since immunity takes about two weeks to become effective.".

Other recommendations, in addition to vaccination, in cases of affected patients are away from the most immunosuppressed people and children, as well as maintaining a steady hand hygiene, as contact with them is one of the mechanisms of contagion more common .

Also, Dr. Valdivia says that against the flu, which has a viral origin, antibiotics are not effective "our recommendation is to administer analgesics, anti-inflammatories and drink lots of fluids."

Finally, and in order to avoid saturation in medical emergencies, when seeing a doctor without an appointment, it is best done in points continuing care health centers, spread across the Marina Alta.
