Last November, the City Council began to install posidonia barriers in the beaches of the municipality of Dénia with the aim of stopping erosion and preventing storms from swallowing the sand.
Although aesthetically it is not the most beautiful image of the Mediterranean, the functionality of these barriers is undeniable. Just take a walk around the Marineta Cassiana, for example, and check it first-hand. The weather of these days is not damaging the beaches in the same way as if these barriers did not exist.
This action is based on making a more sustainable management and getting deposited a greater number of sediments that contribute to having more dry beach for the next season and avoid the action of storms.
This criterion is a recognized and highly valued environmental action, which is even recommended from the protocol of Blue Flags, whose candidatures are being prepared for the next season.
Last year, thanks to this action, the Marineta Cassiana beach achieved an increase of 20% of dry beach. And is that Easter is close and with it the influx of visitors who want to enjoy our beaches in an optimal state.
