Dénia will ask Costas to be able to provide sand to the Blay Beach area while waiting for regeneration

23 2024 April - 11: 46

The Dénia City Council has announced its intention to request the Provincial Coastal Service for the necessary authorization to carry out an important action on the beach of Marines, specifically in the area known as Blay Beach. The main objective of this initiative is to condition a stretch of the beach that is severely eroded due to the action of storms, with a view to preparing it for the summer season.

In a meeting held last Tuesday, April 16, the municipal government team met with the head of the Provincial Service in Alacant, Rosa dels Rius. During this meeting, the details of the request were discussed, highlighting that the council seeks to obtain a temporary permit from Costas for this urgent intervention, while awaiting the execution of the regeneration works planned for this coastal stretch of Dénia.

The approval of the authorization request, which also includes the previous sand extraction works in the area of Els Molins, located on Llac Tiberiades street where a significant amount of sand has accumulated, will be discussed at the next ordinary plenary session scheduled for Thursday, April 25.

A technical report that supports this request highlights that for more than 6 years, and aggravated by the temporary glory occurred in 2020, this stretch of beach has become inaccessible for use as a bathing area because the sea has reached the homes, leaving practically no beach.

If authorization is received from Costas, the City Council plans to provide around 1.000 cubic meters of sand to rehabilitate the affected area.
