Residence management might not be local in 2016

January 13 from 2014 - 00: 02

December 31 2015. It is the deadline to see if the residence remains of municipal responsibility or is taken over by another administration. This was explained by the mayor of Finance, Vicente Chelet, in the course of a press conference on the local government board in which he was asked about 2014 budgets.

According to Chelet explained, the department of finance is studying the new national legislation that affects municipalities to take forward the most important document in the city. Precisely one of those laws, the Law of Delinquency, would prevent the municipality from taking over the service of the Residence of Elders as it has been doing so far if the 31 of December of 2015 the city council does not have the delay of less than 30 days.

And that is to comply with the new legislation would have to make cuts in several city departments, including in social welfare.

Another condition should be met is that the city does not have time public debt, but in the words of Chelet, is "very difficult to meet that requirement in this space of time", since at present the consistory has a debt of 32 million euros and its delinquency is much higher than the 30 days that the law sets.

The Nursing Home St. Lucia represents an annual report to the municipal coffers 2 million euros to which must be added other costs 2 million yearly deficit.
