The Federation of Moors and Christians says it will not change the date of the party

14 September 2016 - 14: 52

The Federation of Moors and Cristians of Dénia (FEMMICC), with its president, Miguel Ángel Fullana at the helm, has issued a statement in response to the proposal made this week by the Association of Merchants and Entrepreneurs of Dénia (ACE), about a possible change of date in the celebration of the holidays.

FEMMICC directive by the crier 2016

The statement begins by stating that it will not enter to value the news because «no buscamos ni hemos buscado nunca la confrontación con ningún otro colectivo o tejido empresarial». The second point explains that from the festive collective of Moors and Christians «se ha buscado y se seguirá haciendo, el interés general de toda la población, no el del interés particular de nadie», while requesting that it be recognized that «somos un colectivo que al igual que todas las Dénia parties, creamos riqueza, ocio y llenamos un calendario de fiestas, con muchísimo trabajo y esfuerzo económico de cada fester que lo forma».

From the Federation remember that «toda fiesta está precedida por una tradición longeva y junto a ella normalmente hay un Patrón o Santo «que la guarda» y eso no se puede variar», and ends by stating that «la Federació de Moros i Cristians de Dénia no va a cambiar ninguna fecha en sus fiestas de moros i cristians, porque asi lo sienten tambien todas las 500 familias que la conformamos».

The proposal of the merchants aroused the indignation of most users in social networks, who showed their disagreement with a possible change of date in the festivities of Moors and Christians in honor of Sant Roc.

Tourists like the party as it is. The rest of the holidays we have to consume at the gastronomic and commercial level. But we can not be spending every day, although that is the general interest that all merchants have. It would be better if they were to take better care of the tourist and not see that excessive interest in taking money from the vacationer.
