The Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, visits the Verger Baix del Castillo de Dénia and the actions that are taking place there

The Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has visited the city of Dénia today and the performances in the Verger Baix del Castle co-financed by the 1,5% Cultural of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda and the Dianense city council. On this visit, the delegate was accompanied by the mayor of the city, Vicent Grimalt and the sub-delegate of the Government in Alicante, Araceli Poblador.

Pilar Bernabé has highlighted "the collaboration between administrations" to recover Dianan's cultural heritage. In fact, the works that are going to be carried out in the Verger Baix area amount to about 700.000 euros, of which 500.000 euros are contributed by the Mitma's 1,5% Cultural program. These actions, according to the delegate, represent "a strategic opportunity" for Dénia and for the region of La Marina since they combine "the recovery of cultural heritage with sustainability and accessibility" and "will have a direct impact on the tourism sector and on the economy of the area.

The works that are being carried out affect three sectors of action, that of Verger Baix and Batería de la Mar, that of Portal del Reis and dels Socors and the Torre del Galliner. Finally, with the opening of the Portal del Reis and the Socors, the castle will be connected with the sea and with the fishing district of Baix la Mar, in addition to facilitating the flow of cultural tourism from the Museu del Mar to the fortress.

In 2021, the restoration of the Verger Alt and Baluarte Oriental area was completed at a cost of around 500.000 euros co-financed by the City Council and the Generalitat within the FEDER 2014-2020 program.

The delegate has also valued the work and projects presented by the Dénia City Council, which has become "a benchmark in La Marina" in attracting aid from the different administrations with which to promote economic, social and heritage development. from the city. In this sense, Bernabé has recalled the more than 8 million euros that Dénia receives from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. Of the total, the 6,2 million euros for the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plans or the 1,5 M€ for the intelligent and sustainable digital transformation of the commercial sector of Dénia stand out.
