The non-negotiable issue why Dénia's favorite beach will never have a Blue Flag

Dénia proposes a new beach to qualify for the Blue Flag
The best beaches in Dénia, according to the FEE

Dénia can boast of being one of the municipalities where more Blue Flags wave in front of the sea. In fact, they are not satisfied with the ones they have recognizing six beaches in the municipality, but are already working to achieve a seventh in 2023. However, one of the neighbors' favorite beaches does not have the badge, and it seems that it will never be able to apply for it, since a basic requirement that is demanded of it is unacceptable.

Sunrise on the south coast of Dénia

If the forecasts are met, in the coming years almost the entire northern coast of Dénia will have the precious Blue Flag that recognizes the quality of its beaches. However, this can never happen on the south coast, considered by most residents to be the true coastal treasure. Yes, the only sand option has the identification, the Marineta Cassiana, but Les Rotes, the jewel in the Dianense crown, will never achieve it.

The reason for this unusual decision, taking into account the obvious quality of this section, is a request from the inspectors that the City Council considers unaffordable. Apparently, they demand the elimination of a historical element that even gives its name to one of the most popular stretches: the springboard.

An item that cannot be dispensed with

This attraction so loved by the neighbors is the object of the dispute. As long as it remains in place, it will be considered that Les Rotes beach does not meet the minimum safety parameters, so either it is withdrawn or there is no Blue Flag. And the springboard, for Dénia, is not negotiable.
