The coordinator and tourism analyst of the Association of Ecuadorian Municipalities (AME) - an institution homologous to the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) -, Gabriela Villacrés, visited the Dénia City Council last Monday with the aim of learning about the projects of innovation of tourism products to train Ecuadorian municipalities on the diversification of the tourism product in the territory. This is part of a municipal decentralized technical cooperation project of the Valencian Fund for Solidarity.

Specifically, in Dénia, the AME technique has been received by the mayor and Councilor for Tourism, Vicent Grimalt, and the area team. Together they have carried out workshops to publicize innovative tourism products, as well as local policies that respond to them. In the same way, Villacrés visited the services and resources of attention and tourist information.

The technical team of the Valencian Solidarity Fund has accompanied Gabriela Villacrés throughout the technical assistance, and values it as a tool of great technical impact to contribute to the fair and sustainable development of the southern country from the field of tourism. For her part, the coordinator and analyst of the tourism field of the AME has valued the work day in Dénia "as an action of the Fund that will add a lot of value to the configuration of innovative tourist products in the towns of Ecuador, which will generate opportunities and They will improve the socioeconomic situation of the municipalities and, therefore, of their population”.

The Valencian Fund for Solidarity

The Valencian Fund is the association of local entities of the Valencian Community whose objectives are to carry out and finance projects of international cooperation and education for development, with the economic contributions made each year by its partners (municipalities and commonwealths of the Valencian Community). . Currently, the Fund has 143 local Valencian member entities (134 city councils and 9 associations) and concentrates its decentralized cooperation actions in Ecuador, Bolivia and El Salvador, as well as in countries in emergency situations. Likewise, it carries out projects to raise awareness of equitable, fair and sustainable human development among the population of the local entities that are members of the Fund, and among the Valencian citizens in general.

The relationship between the southern municipalities and the Fund is defined by municipal and decentralized participation in cooperation policies for social and economic development, with collaboration in projects arising from specific and local needs, and requested by the municipalities themselves or through of counterparts, such as NGDOs. Participation in cooperation projects always has as objectives, for all collaborating parties, respect for local culture and the mutual absorption of knowledge and experiences.

  1. It says:

Will Mr. Grimalt have explained how animals are treated in Denia?

    • Luis says:

In Ecuador there are also bullfights. They forbade killing them in the square but they are still sacrificed afterwards.

      • Rudolf says:

Culture brought by the Spanish without a doubt.
Maybe you like Denia with this animal barbarism…. They're used to it

  2. Pau (FR) says:

Come on, a "solidarity fund" is another beach bar to suck from.
It seems very good to me that a lady from Ecuador or Conchinchina comes to be interested in tourism, and obviously in her piece of cake.
But I am still waiting for the City Council and its representatives to ask us citizens if we are interested in tourism as the main economy of the city and the region.
Because they sell us "sustainability" but we see the result in the streets.
Garbage, traffic chaos, everything crowded, unregulated tourist apartments everywhere and people who want to live and prosper can't find a rental.

    • Luis says:

Totally agree. Also, if they want to come as tourists, they just have to do what everyone else does individually. Plane ticket and hotel. Do you need a grant for that?

    • Pepa says:

Paul, I agree with you. The town hall does not take into account the citizens of Denia, who live all year round and a large majority since we were born
