Julián Pérez, promoter of the Moors and Christians of Dénia, will be the herald of the festivities this 2023

27 July 2023 - 11: 45

The Federació de Moros i Cristians de Dénia (FEMMICC Dénia) celebrated yesterday the presentation of the announcing poster and the program of the Moors and Christians de Dénia of 2023. A special announcement that the organization looks forward to every year, as it announces that the Dianense festivities are just around the corner.

This year, a special town crier will kick off the celebrations. It will be Julián Pérez, one of the promoters of the traditional festivities in the capital of the Marina Alta and who holds this position for the first time. Julián has assured that he faces this challenge "as a new thing because it is the only time that he will represent this position within the Moors and Christians festival of Dénia." Pérez has insisted that "43 years ago, when the party was promoted in the Dianense city, he did not think that he would come to hold this position." Even so, he assures that he is experiencing this situation "with great enthusiasm."

The new acts of the Moors and Christians of Dénia

On the other hand, the president of the FEMMICC Dénia, Sonia Pérez, has announced that this year there will be news involved. Among others, the celebration of the "entraeta festivea" Diana that will take place next Saturday, August 12 through the old streets of Dénia, as well as the presentation of the inclusive pictograms of the party for people with cognitive difficulties and the faithful commitment to music.

Sonia has assured that "from the FEMMICC Dénia we face this year of parties with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm." Above all, "due to the new acts that are incorporated into the festival program and the support of all the festive men and women ».

This is the innovative and recycled advertising poster

One of the most important elements of the festival is the poster that announces the celebration and that this year is based on the historical event that took place in Dénia in 1556. For those who do not know the history, during this time there was an attempt to disembark some Barbary galley slaves on the Dianense coast.

The designers, Mónica Martínez and Alba Pons, have represented in this year's advertising poster «the different layers of history, from the most present to the most historical. In other words, from the representation of the Moors and Christians and the iconic Torre del Gerro, to the deepest layers that would date from 1556, with the landing attempt, and 1599, which refers to the procession of the visit of Felipe III».

The technique that the architects have used in the elaboration of the poster is somewhat novel for the Dianense city. The designers have fled from the graphic and drawing part to enter the artisan world. In addition, they have made use of recycled material to promote sustainability.

Now yes, having the town crier, the advertising poster and the complete program, the Moors and Christians festivities in Dénia can begin.

The expression "Moors" is an insult to the Muslim community.
It would be more correct to call it Arabs and Christians.
We are in the XNUMXst century, not in the Franco era.
