The Department of Joventut de Dénia has presented what will be the first festival focused on tabletop and role-playing games in the region of La Marina Alta. The JoaFest, as they have named it, will occupy a weekend in August and all those interested will be able to participate in an endless number of recreational proposals centered on the theme, with tournaments and games of popular entertainment such as Magic cards or La Fallera Calavera, Warhammer or Jugger.
The idea arose from the young people of the city themselves, who were looking for leisure alternatives to the usual proposals, according to the area councilor, Valen Alcalain the presentation to the media. In addition to board and card games, there will be activities closer to live role-playing, such as Among Us or the popular Jugger, the latter taking place at the football field Rodat. The rest of the activities will take place in the Joventut building in Ronda Muralles, on August 25 and 26 from 18:00 p.m. to 00:00 a.m., culminating with a Survival Zombie throughout the building.
For youth and families
It is a completely free festival with which they not only seek the participation of the young people of Dénia, but it is open to interested parties from the entire region, or even tourists. And although a priori it is focused on players between the ages of 12 and 30, depending on the recommendations of the activity, they also encourage families to participate with their children in the event.
It is totally free, but some appointments, such as tournaments, will require prior registration in order to organize the structure for the date.
Among all the proposals, the participation of the Dianense game creator Enric Aguilar stands out, who has lent himself to show the catalog of his publisher, Zombie Paella, among which stands out the modern Valencian game best known among fans: La Fallera Calavera. In fact, a tournament of the popular card game will be held.

La Fallera Calavera is a massively successful game, as far as I know there are 2 or 3.000 fans only in the Marina Alta, and it is played throughout the Region and also in Spain. Enric Aguilar is not a "buddy", he is a young creator and entrepreneur, of whom we should all feel proud as Dianenses and Valencians. Y Joventut organizes the event to boost leisure for young people and requests the collaboration of creators and companies, as is done with gastronomy, sports and parties, nothing abnormal or illegal, it is one of the obligations, of this council and all the others, whatever the color.
You have not seen anyone play with those cards because it is a board game, young people meet, have fun, socialize and also for the price of 3 or 4 ice creams they have hours and hours of healthy, popular and cheap leisure.
Guys, really, don't be afraid, go out into the street, take a walk, have an ice cream on the Verdú terrace, look around you, life is beautiful, people are wonderful, relationships, communication and conversation it is enriching.
