"If we talk about war, in Dénia there is much to tell"

August 10 from 2017 - 00: 30

Once again, two years in a row, the Secretary General for Defense Policy of the Ministry of Defense of the Central Government has awarded Denia a grant to run the series of conferences in Denia en Guerra. This year the aid amounts to 3.800 euros and will allow a cycle of conferences to be carried out that will address different aspects of defense in Dénia in times of war.

The dissemination project Defense Temps War in Dénia Integrates a series of lectures organized by the Museu Arqueològic de Dénia, which will take place between the months of August and October of 2017. The headquarters is the Castell de Dénia, La Sala, and is the central axis of its summer program.

The aim is to make known to the general public and to cultural tourism the link between the history of Denia and the war. War events, fortification and armament throughout history. For this second edition have chosen the themes: The fortification in al-Andalus: husun and alcazabas, the conquest of Valencia and Denia by King Jaume I of Aragon. The reconstruction of the warlike episodes of the War of the Succession and the War of the French in Dénia through sources and military cartography, and the 36 War and the scenarios of the contest in Denia.

Each thematic block has a format that integrates one or several conferences that gloss the context of each period or episode, while activities such as a round table or conversation, or a monographic visit with expert guidance deal with either specific events or The architectures and armament of each period, with special reference to the funds of the Museums of Dénia and the cultural heritage linked to war and defense.
