On Monday 21 of October, the network Guifi.net, a free network of access to Internet in Jesús Pobre began operating. The project consisted in the installation of a main node in the House of Culture, And of two nodes of connection with Pedreguer and Poble Nou, as well as the hiring of the internet service.
As explained by the mayor, Javier Scotto, The project has had an investment of 5.000 € with exclusive charge to EATIM.
This new service available to residents and neighbors of Jesus Pobre was a proposal made by the culture member of the EATIM Sebastià Aguililla, and whose processing was carried out jointly with the Mayor.
Javier Scotto said that "the implementation of the network seeks to meet the lack of investment made by telemarketers, demonstrating that rurality is not at odds with access to the network, and in addition, completely free."
Since last day 21, neighbors can now go to EATIM to request their user code and access to the network, once installed the receiving antenna that should be directed to one of the sending nodes.
The mayor stressed that this project has been carried out in response to the great demand made by the neighbors, being more of 50 the interested parties, therefore, EATIM anticipates that it will amortize the investment in a period of 8 months, with the provision of the service To citizens, and in the case of the neighbors of Jesus Pobre, with the only initial expense of installing the particular antenna, will enjoy unlimited free internet.
