The TRAM reconnects Dénia with Benidorm 6 years later

January 16 from 2023 - 11: 19

The TRAM reconnects Dénia with Benidorm after six years being replaced by a bus. More than 150 million euros later, a service so demanded is recovered and that supports the Marina Alta, serving as a link between the capital and the towns in the south of the region.

This morning the reopening of TRAM Line 9 took place at the Dénia station, where the president, Ximo Puig, Minister Rebeca Torró and the mayor, Vicent Grimalt.

"When they told me that they were going to stop the line six years ago it reminded me too much of when the line with Gandia was closed," admitted Grimalt during his speech. The mayor has been grateful but realistic, claiming other equally necessary services. "It is not a train to do business with Alicante, because a tram is not for that, but it does provide the backbone and gives us the service that the region needs."

A train to connect the region

Ximo Puig began his speech by recalling that "this trenet It has brought many personal ambitions, many feelings and many stories. The president of the Generalitat highlighted the importance of urban transport services, assuring that he will continue his government, betting on connecting the regions, recalling that the "ambitious" project of uniting Dénia with Gandia continues. «The TRAM is not a high-speed train, but not every day we make long journeys. The most important journeys we make are the daily ones”.

From today, the tram service It will be available again for all the residents of Dénia who want to use it after six years depending on a bus that replaced the line.

Congratulations to Timo Puig. Great work with an expense of 150 million (we trust that they have not flown) and 6 years of execution to have a modern and fast train. Above all that: fast. Three hours to go to Alicante, that is to say an average speed of 35 km per hour. In short, it seems like a major joke and the pageantry of the inauguration borders on the ridiculous.

  2. Raul says:

The Tram is a project that only feeds politicians to take a photo. It definitely does not help to structure the province of Alicante while it takes 3 hours to get there while with the car only an hour. Then to connect the towns with each other you arrive earlier by bicycle. In addition to sustainable nothing at all: Diesel!!!

Thank you all for the collaboration to reconnect our Denia with our neighbors thank you thank you thank you

  4. James says:

Fudge, what a shame, today the first day and the traffic lights have already failed, at least in Dénia, I have seen and experienced it this afternoon. How to trust safe travel on those trains. Luckily the municipal police were controlling the roundabouts, even so, no miraculous misfortune has happened.
150 million spent I have read in this news. My goodness, let's see if someone dares to investigate the accounts, it has been many years and works passed through many hands. And as a touch of humor. I hope some toupee hasn't flown, what an ugly molt de vent

Long live the banana republic of the tram with its president, the man who publishes the pamphlet.
We did not leave "cañeta y peixet".

  6. Dani says:

What a pity that the same thing does not happen with the Gandía train.
In addition, now that the "trenet" is in place, more tourism will come and we have a loss-making Bus Station.
Denia needs more investment in infrastructure and tourism.
From Movimiento Democrático we will continue to insist on the need to promote both.
    For a Democratic Republic.
For a Unitary, secular and egalitarian State.

    • Luis says:

I don't think that "that trenet" attracts so much tourism, it is a simple toy tram, slow and insufficient. The only thing that they are selling as a train for all those people who have never seen a proper railway network. Look that Valencia is close to see it….
Denia needs more investment in infrastructure and in the population of Denia. Or is it that the population also gives a damn to them? So much equality, republic, secularism... so that in the end the population and the Dianense society don't give a damn.
By the way, we are already a Unitary, secular and egalitarian State. And as Emperor of the Republic yourself, right? A greeting.

    • Jopelin says:

      Daniel, out of curiosity:
What does the Gandía train or the unpresentable bus station (before it was even better) have to do with it, and I agree with you, with the pamphlet of a democratic republic and an egalitarian state?
