The Departments of Culture and Tourism and the Association of Artists of the Marina Alta (ADAMA) have organized the second edition of the Ciutat de Dénia Rapid Painting Contest, which is held on Sunday, June 14. This year, the organization has introduced two notable novelties.
On the one hand, prizes are created for the best local artist and best artist in the region, sponsored by Baleària and Marina Color. It has also decided to limit the location of the theme of the works submitted to the contest, focusing on the old town and the port of Dénia.
Councilor for Culture, Pepa Sivera, the president of ADAMA, Javier Ruiz and the secretary-treasurer of the entity, José Vicente González, have presented this morning the details of the contest.
To date 38 participants have been registered, coming from different points of the Valencian Community, and it is expected to equal or exceed the 60 entries of the first edition with the additions that are made on the same day of the contest.
The reception of participants and the stamping of supports will be done from 9 to 11 hours at the Tourism Office in the Plaza del Consell. Contestants will have from 11 to 18.30 hours to paint their work. The technique is free. The works delivered will be displayed in the Plaza del Consell until 20 hours, at which time the jury, in which the artists Joan Castejón and Teo San José participate, will make their decision public and the prizes will be handed out.
The first prize is endowed with 700 euros in cash, the second with 400 euros and the third with 200 euros. In addition, as noted above, there will be a fourth prize for the best local artist, endowed with a trip to Formentera for two people, and a fifth to the best local artist, consisting of a lot of paintings valued at 100 euros.
The winning works will be exhibited, along with a selection of the presented paintings, in the main Tourism Office, from the 16 to the 30 in June.
The organizers hope to achieve the success of the last edition, hoping to maintain the "high level"Of the participants, and bet on the continuity of an initiative"which also contributes to the tourist promotion of our city".
