El Hospital de Dénia becomes the first center in Europe and first in the world outside the United States, HIMSS Davies Award achieve. It is an international award from the independent rating firm HIMSS Analytics that classifies hospitals, according to the degree of integration of Electronic Medical Records.
The announcement was made in Madrid, Christina Roosen, Vice President of Foreign Affairs of HIMSS. Roosen said "We are very pleased to receive this recognition for the first time in Europe at Marina Salud in Denia, for their achievement, through new technologies, greater efficiency and better management sanitari; resulting in optimal patient care. Spain is the European leader in the implementation of IT in healthcare".
Director of Organization and Information Technologies of Marina Salud, Vicent Moncho, welcomed the recognition and noted that "It belongs to everyone and the result of collaboration between clinicians and professionals in charge of technological developments".
In this sense Moncho stressed that "the technology applied to health services does nothing more than become a tool at the service of clinicians; an ally that, in the case of the Dénia Department of Health, has considerably improved patient safety with the development of alert codes in cases of risk of sepsis or drug interactions, to give some examples".
This award recognizes the excellence of health organizations that have used technology as a tool to improve the health of their patients and contribute to greater sustainability of the health system.
In the evaluation process for obtaining this award assesses how it has worked in the adaptation of each of the systems to the needs of the organization (implementation strategies, workflows and commitment to the patient).
To qualify for this award it is necessary to have previously obtained the 6 or 7 levels of the HIMSS Analytics EMRAM or to have been distinguished for contributing to the sustainability of the health system through the use of ICT.
