The future of La Xara and Jesús Pobre, without Dénia? The City Council takes the first step towards a Marina Alta of 35 municipalities

February 24 from 2023 - 11: 12

The Dénia City Council has approved during the ordinary plenary session on Thursday, February 23, to support the request of the EATIM of La Xara and Jesús Pobre for the modification of laws related to local administration. Some laws that they hope can be adapted for the possible future segregation of smaller entities such as municipalities themselves, if they wish. This motion has gone ahead by majority, with the abstentions of PP and Citizens and the no of Gent of Dénia.

The document will be transferred to the Valencian and state courts, urging the reform of laws 8/2010 and 27/2013; These changes, if they occur, are intended, among other things, to soften the conditions of distances between population centers that may favor a possible future segregation.

At the same time, the plenary session has approved, also by majority, with the abstention of Gent de Dénia, the request of the administrations of La Xara and Jesús Pobre to improve the governance conditions of the EATIMs. Among them, those of having more police officers, access to the population register, collecting the particularities of the two administrations when processing contracting documents, information on the liquidation of taxes such as SUMA or the ICIO, the execution of the services and benefits of the program of the Department of Inclusive Policies or the inclusion of representatives of La Xara and Jesús Pobre in the collegiate bodies, all with the aim that both districts have a greater presence and municipal participation.
