28 December 2012 - 00: 05

During the Municipal Plenary held yesterday in the Plenary Hall of the City of Dénia, Pepa Font, Councilor for Urban Management, presented the preliminary version of the General Urban Development Plan of the city of Dénia.

This project consists of 5 different alternatives which will discuss and reach a consensus on after the consultation period has been opened in 45 days.

During his appearance in plenary session, Pepa Font, wanted to defend the plan presented alleging "that it is a conscientious work that sees the light after 4 years of work."

One of the novelties of the Plan is that, according to Pepa Font, "it is committed to sustainable urbanistic alternatives and contemplates population ceilings of up to 79.000 inhabitants".

CHANGES TO THE CITY
This new urban plan proposes a modification of the city that goes towards the "pedestrianization of the traditional historical nucleus, contemplates rounds to deconstruct urban traffic and seeks to boost public transport", in the words of Font.

Another of the key points of the Urban Planning Plan is the elimination of "the barrier that the Las Marinas Highway entails and its recovery is proposed with the creation of a green area between the sea and the road with leisure areas and sport ", in order to maintain the occupation throughout the year. Likewise, as an alternative to the road traffic of the marinas, the Camino de Gandía is contemplated.

CONSENSUS BY THE POLITICAL CLASS
Despite the ideological differences and the statements of the Spokesman of the PSOE-Denia, Vicent Grimalt, in which he criticizes the shadow with which the topic of "citizen participation" is discussed, with which it is not known "how or where the citizens will be able to participate" and "that there is no specific location for the bus station of Dénia ", this plan is supported by all the political forces of Dénia.

The thing about the boulevard on the Las Marinas highway would be great, but I'm very afraid that, as the date of the news shows, it must be an "innocent."
I hope I'm wrong and the Las Marinas Boulevard project is true; and also a maritime promenade in the style of the existing one in Las Rotas beach, which could be done perfectly in carrer Boga; and all this linked with the magnificent but little used park of Les Bassetes.
