Dénia reflects on the role of women in the local police

Thirty years ago, women performed menial tasks in the bodies of local police. And he did it with skirt and heels, all of a decent height. Dénia, Enriqueta Borrás was the first woman who joined the local police station, and did so by showing that had the same abilities as men to fulfill their tasks in the body.

Thirty years later things have changed, but not much. Currently, only ten women are part of the staff of the local police in Denia. The conditions are not the same, thankfully, but still a long way to go to achieve full equality, as in many other sectors.

These and other issues are those put on the table on Friday in the course of the day on The integration of women in the bodies of local police in Valencia which is held in the Maritime station Denia, organized by the city to mark the anniversary of the incorporation 30 the first woman to the local police in Denia.

During this Friday morning, eight women from different bodies of local police to explain their tesimonios hundred people involved in the day in order to make a snapshot of the current situation of women in the local police. The day was opened by the Mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, And Council Javier Scotto and Elisabet Cardona. Thus begins the commemoration of this anniversary, which will be conducted throughout the year.
