11 March 2021 - 12: 01

The City Council of Dénia has proposed to the Department of Health to make vaccinations against COVID-19 of teachers and other personnel of public, concerted and private centers in the region, which will begin next week, at the Youth facilities of round of the Walls.

“After considering different possibilities, we consider that it is the ideal place because it meets all the requirements set by Health: it is a space that can be divided into different areas, it has enough parking for medical vehicles, and it is an accessible place, close to the urban center and with a public parking, the one on Miguel Hernández avenue, very close”, has indicated the councilor of Health, Javier Scotto.

"Despite the fact that we are awaiting confirmation from the Ministry of Health on the suitability of the proposed place as a vaccination point and having, from the Department of Health, in collaboration with other municipal departments, we have already designed a distribution of the Youth space following the patterns required by the health authorities, to have everything finished for next Thursday, March 18, the date on which the vaccine will begin to be supplied to the staff of the educational centers of the Marina Alta", says the alderman.

The entrance to your vaccination point will be the main access in the Youth building and people will wait in the new esplanade recently enabled by the city council, with enough space to guarantee social distancing in the queue.

The Joves Art exhibition room will become the triage area and the multipurpose room will be divided into a vaccination space and a recovery area after the vaccine. The old cafeteria will be used as the staff rest area.

Likewise, Scotto added, "We will enable electricity and internet connection points, two provisional points for hand cleaning and we will assign municipal staff - janitors, local police and Civil Protection volunteers - to support the proper development of the vaccination device".

As announced this week by President Puig, from March 15 to 27, a total of 116.032 professionals from the education sector under 55 years of age will be vaccinated in the Valencian Community with the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. The group includes nursery school teachers, special education teachers, primary and secondary school teachers and all the other personnel who have a presence in the centers and a direct link with the students, such as school monitors, dining room staff, cleaning and cooking and also the administration and services.

To carry out the process, vaccination centers will be enabled in 23 municipalities with a large population distributed throughout the Community, among which is Dénia, and 242 vaccination teams will be assigned, made up of more than 1.000 health professionals.
