The plenary session of the City Council of Dénia celebrated this Thursday approved by majority the procedure of previous hearing of the modification of the Municipal Ordinance of Traffic, Circulation of Motor Vehicles and Road Safety with the objective of regulating the use of the scooters, so booming lately .
This proposal is launched after the field work carried out by agents of the Local Police of Dénia in recent months and meetings with different associations and rental companies of personal mobility vehicles to achieve peaceful mobility in the urban area of Dénia.
As explained by the Councilor for Citizen Security, Javier Scotto, the ordinance changes the name of bicycles by cycling, dividing personal mobility vehicles (VMP) into three categories. In category A, scooters are included, both for personal and commercial use; cycles, chairs and tricycles of reduced mobility. Vehicles in this category must travel in the corresponding bike lane.
This type of vehicle can be driven by people from 16 years. Minors must be accompanied and always under the supervision of adults.
Also, cycles can not park on sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, tied to trees or urban elements. The ordinance determines that bicycle parking will be shared with personal mobility vehicles.
