Red Cross will be in charge of the surveillance of the beaches of Dénia during the next two years

Two years after losing the tender for the service, the Red Cross Dénia will be in charge of monitoring the beaches from Dénia in the next two summers. This has been approved by the Governing Board of the Dénia City Council, at the proposal of the Contracting Board: award the health care service, rescue, first aid and help to the adapted bathroom on the beaches of Dénia to the Red Cross.

The service will start to be provided during the first half of June and the 14 will finish in October, coinciding with the end of the middle season. The new contract lasts for two years, with the possibility of two more years of extension, and a budget of 1.159.346 euros plus VAT per year.

News in the specifications

The delegated councilor of beaches, Óscar Mengual, has indicated that the beach rescue service «es uno de los pilares básicos de la oferta turística que presta el municipio a los miles de visitantes que disfrutan de los kilómetros de playa del litoral de Dénia». For this reason, he explained that the specifications were drafted prioritizing the technical project on other issues.

For the first time they have been introduced in the specifications social and environmental selection criteria that guarantee adequate and dignified salaries to the staff of the adjudicating entity and with the novelty that the entity must prepare and implement an equality plan with its staff.

Contract improvements

Regarding the new contract, the contracting entity has proposed as a contractual improvement the Enlargement in 15 days more in the provision of the service to help adapted bathing on the beach Punta del Raset and commits to home transport to the adapted bathing point.

Until the June 30, medium season, the benefit will be daily, with 25 effective destined. In high season, from the 1 from July to the 15 in September, the service will also be daily and will include a team of 69 people distributed in the sanitary posts, the watchtowers and towers, the dynamic surveillance tasks, and the two boats and two jet skis that are used for service. From the 15 from September to the 14 in October, the first aid and surveillance service will be provided on weekends.
