Concha Ballester: sensitivity and elegance made music

09 March 2015 - 00: 00

He began playing the piano and soon met the guitar, an instrument by which it decided when the piano teacher asked her nails cut so they do not make noise when you touch each key. She says that she is a woman guitar, an instrument able to convey what you feel, what you are.

Her sensitivity and love for music are reflected in every word she says, and this has undoubtedly been one of the determining factors for the equality department of Dénia City Council to recognize her on the International Day of Working Women.

Concha Ballester

Concha Ballester was born in 1960 and music was always part of his life, even among his relatives there was no professional musician. But her brother and she wanted to study music and her parents made the effort to attend both classes at the Conservatory of Alicante.

His father left his business when they had class in the capital of the province, and until then the whole family left in a procession. Children to study and parents to take a walk until the end of classes. Although it was very complicated to combine the schedules of the Conservatory classes with those of the institute, the results of both brothers became very good.

Maybe she was predestined for teaching, because already in the school tests the result that came out was a music teacher. In 1983 he began working at the Conservatory of Dénia, a school promoted by Agustín Moreno when Dénia only had the Music Band as a place to learn music. Since then, hundreds of students between the ages of 8 and 18 have passed through their classrooms, some "musical children" of which she feels very proud.

All of them have been seen to grow musically, achieving goals for which they have fought together and all created very special links needed to better understand them.

Concha currently combines his work in intensive schedule at the Conservatory with his family He's married and has a daughter of 27 years. And of course with the studies, which devotes all the time you can to be in constant training.

Studies that take you to expand your knowledge in areas not imagine a few years ago as Braille, because five years is teaching Estefania, a blind student whose passion is music. From the start of classes, Concha went to the ONCE to know more braille and help as her student.

The classes with Estefanía are different, since the scores, translated by ONCE, must be memorized first and then expressed. But it is a very rewarding job since he has been able to verify that for his student, his life is music.

But besides the Conservatory, his passion for music led him to spearhead interesting cultural projects in Dénia as the International Setmana of Music, which he directed until two years ago, or Dijous cycle to Nàutic, held a few summers ago in Real Club Náutico de Dénia. Today collaborates with the poet Francisco Cejudo putting music to his creations and performing poetry and guitar throughout the country.

Mupi Concha Ballester

A Concha Ballester likes what he does, and so does every moment what you want. And not considered to have given up anything in your life to be a mother, for example. It was a decision made freely, like all decisions taken in his life, and was aware that I should give up other things. Says his family "deserves everything" after work, and so it is they who devotes all his time.

In the act of recognition will be especially remembered his mother, the first woman in his life, but also whom she considers his godfather: Joaquín Boscà, driving the teaching of guitar in Dénia.

As Concha herself said, "Of all the work done, there will be something left". Today received in the Plenary Hall of the City Council recognition in the International Day of Working Women.
