Some twenty chefs and businessmen from the Norwegian city of Bergen, the Creative City of UNESCO's Gastronomy since 2015, are from Sunday in Dénia to learn about gastronomy and local and regional lifestyle.

This Monday began the week with a visit to the Municipal Mercat, where they have enjoyed a typical lunch, and then have been received at the City Hall by the mayor, Vicent Grimalt; the Councilor for International Relations, Óscar Mengual; and the president of Aehtma, Cristina Sellés.

The group, made up of businessmen, chefs and hotel professionals from the Norwegian city, want to know the gastro-food offer of Dénia and that of the Marina Alta, and explore the possibilities of business and business collaboration. Thus, during their stay in Dénia they will visit the CdT, where chefs from Dénia and Bergen will cook dishes from their respective traditions and exchange knowledge and experiences. They will also learn about the operation and products of the Dénia market and will walk through the Calle Marques de Campo y the castle.

Tuesday will be spent traveling the Marina Alta. Your first stop will be in the Marjal de Pego, where you will receive information about the natural park and rice production. After visiting the Pego Cooperative and witnessing the activity it develops, they will go to the interior vineyards and tour the wineries Gutiérrez de la Vega and the Cooperativa de Xaló. group will arrive at noon to a riurau of Benissa, where they are planning to celebrate an outdoor meal with paella as main course. Wednesdays they will leave for Valencia to visit the Central Market and eat in the surroundings before embarking on a trip back to their city.

For their part, Norwegian businessmen, who have paid for their private travel, have scheduled meals in Quique Dacosta Restaurant and the Baret of Miquel Ruiz, and will attend an official dinner Monday at the Hotel Nou Romà with representatives of the City of Dénia and entrepreneurs of AEHTMA and CEDMA.

Denia and Bergen have forged a close relationship since both were designated Creative Cities of Gastronomy by UNESCO in 2015. Together they are working on two Erasmus training projects, funded by the European Union, together with the cities of Östersund (Sweden), Parma (Italy) and Gazantiep (Turkey). One of them, about healthy eating in schools, was promoted by the Pou de la Muntanya school, and the second, with the involvement of IES María Ibars and the CdT, is intended for the training of young cooks. For its part, Dénia has been specially invited and has participated actively in the last two editions of the Matfestival, which is held annually in Bergen and is considered one of the most important gastronomic meetings in Europe.
