Almost 7 tons of Dénia's railway history turned into a monument to train travelers

15 June 2023 - 11: 32

The city of Dénia is in the middle of installing a new sculpture that will beautify the main entrance of the TRAM station. The work, titled Beats of the Metropolis and created by the artist Viktor Ferrando, it is being installed thanks to the generous donation of the author and the Rotary Club of Dénia to the local City Council.

The sculpture, whose weight reaches 6.800 kilograms and is 4,8 meters high, has been designed to fit harmoniously into an area of the city related to the railway. To achieve this, specific materials were used, such as railway steel, structural iron and wood from discarded materials from the Marina railway, which used to connect Alacant and Dénia.

Installation work is ongoing and the sculpture is expected to be ready for public viewing very soon. Once completed, Beats of the Metropolis it will become a prominent piece of public art, adding a distinctive cultural touch to the Dénia urban landscape.

Much protest with the actions of the City Council, which has not yet been put in command.
But you have to remember that THEY WILL BE THE SAME AND THEY HAVE BEEN VOTED.
Now do not regret. There has been an opportunity to THROW THEM AWAY

  2. burial says:

It looks like a coffin, a symbol that the station is dead.

Or take the trenet to Gandia for once and connect Alicante with Valencia, what a great need it is, to be able to go from Alicante to Valencia, without contaminating.

Is that what our taxes are for?
For that and for a rotten fish sculpture in the port?
This town hall can be very good and the king of progress in Denia, but taste….what is said taste…. little has
Won't there be more serious things to do? Or with changing the bricks of the gazebo…. Also with our taxes is it enough?
    Shameful

It is an expensive copy of the Tardis from Doctor Who, so you can get in and travel in space time and arrive before the tram.
another glob just like the train.

  6. valentine says:

According to the article it is donated by the artist and the rotary

    • Tin says:

I also donate my remains, to the container... I'll tell you that all "artists" are willing to donate as long as their name spreads, it's basic. I hope they don't donate 1000 artists, 1000 more "works" like that, of such artistic quality. Having a random “work of art” does not value anything, on the contrary.

  7. Raul says:

    Another ridiculous.
To waste the money, and then raise taxes on losers,... fixed...

  8. Dani says:

    Nonsense.
I would give you a better welcome at a shopping center in the trenet parking lot.
